The role of the ENT specialist
ENT (ear-nose-throat) specialists, also known as otolaryngologists, are the specialists for head and neck diseases. They treat hearing, voice, smell and taste disorders.
They're able to perform surgery in the ear, sinus, nose, neck and throat in order to treat or cure diseases, infections or congenital malformations.
If an ENT specialist finds out that a patient has hearing loss, they can inform the patient of the options available. If the condition can't be treated medically or surgically, they will refer the patient to an audiologist or audioprosthetist.
