CNESST

If a worker has a hearing loss and was exposed to noise at work, they can do the procedure with the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) to receive a compensation.

The worker must meet the following criteria:

  • Presents a hearing loss compatible, in whole or in part, with occupational deafness
  • Has worked, mainly in Quebec, for several years in noisy environments
  • Contributed to the CNESST regime

It should be noted that a retired worker - no matter for how many years - can do the processus to open a file at CNESST to have his hearing loss recognized as occupational deafness. It also applies for people who have worked for companies that have ceased their activities.

For more information on the eligibility conditions and the services covered, visit the CNESST website.

If you wish to take steps to recognize a professional deafness, we invite you to make an appointment with an audiologist practicing in a Lobe clinic by calling 1 866 411-LOBE (5623). He can accompany you throughout the process.
