LOBE CLINICS

Lobe clinics offer a unique, multidisciplinary approach. All the hearing health, language and speech professionals are gathered under the same roof: ENT specialists (ear-nose-throat), audiologists, audioprosthetists, hearing health nurses, specialized educators, and speech-language pathologists. They all practice together in a spirit of complementarity to create an environment focused on the needs of the patient.

The first Lobe clinics emerged in 2002 at Sainte-Marie and Saint-Georges in the Beauce region of Quebec. Later, additional clinics were established in Québec City to meet the demand for hearing health. Today, there more than 45 clinics across Quebec. This dramatic expansion allows patients to have access to quality hearing health services when they need them.

Why were Lobe clinics created?

Some 10%* of the population suffers from hearing loss—a significant percentage. Yet, only 20% of these people are diagnosed or treated. The lack of information on hearing health, the burden of the administrative process and long waiting times to meet with a health care professional are some of the reasons why people do not consult health professionals.

Lobe clinics were established to respond to these issues; they make a point of providing a simplified approach, with easy-to-access services and greatly reduced waiting times.
