Replacing the Wax Guard
An Important Part Of Maintenance!
The wax guard is a small part that protects hearing aids speakers, which sit inside the ear. It’s a sort of small basket that filters earwax and collects dirt, protecting the internal circuitry of the hearing aids. The filter should be replaced as needed to prevent breakage and keep the hearing aids working properly.
It may need to be replaced if:
- The hearing aids are quieter than usual
- The sound from the hearing aids is intermittent
- The hearing aids aren’t producing sound
Your first instinct would probably be to replace the battery, which is a good thing. However, if the problem continues, you may want to try replacing the wax guard.
- Take a stick and screw the coloured end into the white opening of hearing aids. 2. Pull firmly to remove the wax to be replaced.
- Turn the stick 180 degrees.
- Insert the new wax guard into the hearing and opening, without screwing it in.
- Remove the stick from the hearing aid and discard it.
These are different models of wax guard, so make sure you choose the right one for your hearing aids. You can get the wax guard model that's right for you by visiting boutique.lobe.ca/en.
