Swalllowing Disorders

This is the ability to swallow correctly. Giving that the same organs are shared for both speaking and swallowing, the speech therapist is often called upon to work with people who are dealing with swallowing problems.

Several difficulties may occur, making meals less enjoyable. The feeling that food is stuck in the throat, coughing episodes or frequent choking while eating are some of these difficulties. These disorders are referred to as “dysphagia”.
