Support the LOBE CYCL-ORL team during the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie

February 26, 2013
On June 14, 15 and 16, the LOBE CYCL-ORL team will once again participate in a race that has them starting from La Baie and riding more than 1,100 kilometers to Montréal in 60 consecutive hours! The route is divided into several stages that vary between 75 and 140 km, with each member riding between about 350 and 500 km.

For a second year, the LOBE CYCL-ORL team is composed of Christophe Grenier (audioprosthetist), Dr. Frédéric Hélie (ENT), Carole Girard (principal at the École oraliste de Québec pour enfants malentendants ou sourds), Dr. François Parent (ENT) and Dr. Patrick Savard (ENT).

Each team registered in the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie (GDPL) has several missions. First, the team must raise funds in order to register in the GDPL. (A portion of the registration fees go to research in orphan diseases, since without the support of the Fondation Go, research in this field would unfortunately receive very little funding.) Second, the team must sponsor an elementary school and encourage the students to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Third, it must collect enough funds for the sponsored school so it can improve its sports facilities and purchase equipment that will get the students moving.

Each member must also prepare himself physically and mentally for this challenge, as well as encourage those around him to join in. It’s no longer a secret that exercise has benefits for people’s overall health, for their productivity at work, and especially for that feeling of well-being that brings them confidence.

Have a great challenge!
